The Armenian Inter-Communal Committee of Philadelphia, made up of St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church, Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, St. Sahag and Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, St. Mark’s Armenian Catholic Church, Armenian Martyrs’ Congregational Church, and the Armenian Sisters Academy, organized a genocide remembrance event on Sunday, April 24, at St. Gregory the Illuminator Church in Philadelphia.
Founders Hall was full for this event. After an opening prayer by the clergy, Mr. Andrew Kzirian, chairman of the Committee, invited Dr. Vartan Matiossian, Executive Director of the Eastern Prelacy, to present a very informative and dynamic lecture based on his recent book The Politics of Naming the Armenian Genocide. The lecture was followed by an artistic program that included songs, recitation, and dance by fourth through eighth grade students of the Armenian Sisters Academy. The event was closed with closing remarks and benediction by the clergy. A reception followed, during which Dr. Matiossian signed copies of his book.
